Palantir CEO Alex Karp: AI ‘Project Maven’ Shifting Tide in U.S.-Iran War

Palantir Technologies’ CEO Alex Karp declares value creation as the core factor in determining success in both warfare and business. Karp has been leading Palantir from its inception in 2003 and has played a crucial role in growing it into America’s premier AI software and data analytics powerhouse.

“What makes you lethal on the battlefield, and what makes you commercially viable? The bigger question in all this, honestly, is, what creates value, what gives you outsized alpha that can’t be replicated? On the battlefield, on the commercial battlefield, too, at large companies… our ability to target and take out adversaries and enemies in a way no one else can.” Karp said in a CNBC interview prior to Palantir Technologies’ AI conference in Washington, D.C.

Palantir’s Defense Legacy

Alex Karp’s message goes beyond corporate America and sums up 20 years of Palantir’s legacy that is deeply intertwined with the U.S. government. Its journey from the start-up with about $2M funding from the CIA in 2003 to a $362B giant with more than 75 army deals involved solving impossible problems and providing “unreplicable value.”

What began as one of the CIA’s multiple secretive programs on counterterrorism, post 9/11, has now evolved into a premium data analytics intel firm whose platforms were used in Ukrainian ops and in the Middle East conflicts.

Palantir’s Gotham platform and AIP were widely used in Ukraine’s military and Israel’s IDF during conflicts as a core for kill chains, targeting, and AI decision-making. These platforms offer superior geospatial technology and predictive alerts that most other systems cannot match, providing a clear advantage over the enemy.

This technological superiority and consequent advantage are the “Value creation,” Karp deems as the sole factor in surviving the wars and the market. And the form is not only surviving but dominating certain niches in the defense market with platforms including Gotham, AIP, Apollo, and Foundry- all of which are critical for the U.S. government.

Palantir’s Market Momentum

Going by Karp’s philosophy, Palantir’s share price growth is also related to the value it provides to traders who hold the stock. And it did provide massive value by climbing over 83% in 2025 – even beating Nvidia in terms of one-year growth. Palantir’s (PLTR) share is now priced at $153.50 (+1.25%)  and climbed over 5.89% in the last 30 days.
